After a nasty crash into the center field wall, Jose Pirela was taken out of this afternoon’s game. He was attempting to track down a fly ball off the bat of Juan Lagares, which eventually turned into an inside the park home run. When the diagnosis of the injury is announced, I’ll update this post with the details.
Yankees say Pirela has a concussion and is getting a CT scan at Tradition Medical Center.

Neck and spine MRI findings came back normal on Jose Pirela. Brain CT Scan was normal. Pirela was discharged from Tradition Medical Center.

So Pirela is likely out one to two weeks minimum, which all but eliminates him from getting a major league roster spot. Tough break for the kid, but luckily he won’t be held out for too long.
